How to Participate in the UROP Program
-
When would I do the UROP project:
- Students who wish to
participate in the UROP program may submit proposals twice yearly.
Typically the deadlines are in early October and early March. With a
fall application deadline, projects may be completed the following
January 1 through June 15. With a spring application deadline,
projects may be done between the following July 1 and the next June 15.
If you want to participate in a fall project (September - December),
apply the preceding March.
- Whom Do I Contact?
- If you need help beyond what this web site offers in getting started,
go to the UROP office (109 Appleby Hall) or to the office of your college coordinator. If you need help in picking a project and you have already looked at the examples and the listings at this site, then you can start by talking to professors whose research projects interest you and Directors of Undergraduate Studies in the departments where your research interests lie. The UROP Office also maintains a book of sample proposals and can furnish you with a list of previous faculty sponsors from a particular department. The key to getting involved in the UROP program is your faculty sponsor. Once you have found a faculty member who is willing to let you help with their research interests or support you in your chosen project, you will have a resource who will help you through out the application process.
- Where do I get the necessary forms?
- This website has forms that you can download and fill out using your word processor.
Some of the forms can be filled out and then printed. If you would prefer to pick up the information, then you may go to the UROP office in 109 Appleby Hall or to the office of
your college coordinator.
