Does the inclusion of well efficiency improve the calculation of subsurface hydraulic parameters?

Major

Geology & Geophysics

Mentor

Martin Saar

Brief Bio

At school I enjoy learning about Hydrogeology and Sedimentology. In my free time I like to go camping, hiking, and fishing. I also enjoy traveling and spending time with my friends.

Future Plans

I hope to attend graduate school to get a Ph.D. in coastal geology. Ultimately I would like to get a job teaching and doing research at an academic institution like the U of M.

Why Research?

I was interested in getting some lab experience. I wanted to see if I liked doing research.

What Did I Get from Research?

I had a lot of fun working with new people and I learned a lot. Research is definitely something I enjoy doing, and I hope to pursue it in the future.

How Did I Start?

I found my faculty mentor because he was one of my professors. I approached him and asked him if he wanted to work on a project.

My Advice for Another Student:

It is a valuable experience. Find someone who does something your interested in and ask if you can help. It never hurts to ask.

Research Summary

I am doing a laboratory experiment to see how accurately pumping tests can determine the hydraulic parameters of an aquifer. It may be possible to improve certain calculations by considering the effects of well efficiency.
