Brief Bio

I like to do cultural dancing. I also enjoy playing volleyball. I like to work with kids, and want to get into pediatric nursing.

Future Plans

I plan to graduate in May, and then work for a couple of years. Then after a couple of years of nursing go back to school to become a nurse practitioner.

Why Research?

I got a job as a freshman working with my mentor. I wanted to get into more detail as to working with the people. I found people were shy about it, and became more interested in the topic. I think it is useful not only in this topic, but also to other sensitive topics for nurses.

What Did I Get from Research?

I want to apply what I have learned in the research class. I want to relate it to nursing. I want to make a direct connection to the research and nursing. Then discover why the research is important to nursing.

How Did I Start?

I had a job with her already. I talked with her, and then she asked me if I wanted to do a UROP. Then from there I applied to UROP.

My Advice for Another Student:

I think they should go for it. It is a good experience. You learn how it applies to other parts of the practice. It is very hands on. It is a lot better then reading from a book. You learn from it. I find it useful to see how things I have learned in class are applicable to the real world.

Research Summary

My research is on fecal incontinence. I am going to be looking at the different attitudes and perspectives that people have towards fecal incontinence. I am looking as to how people describe the problem, and how they want to treat the problem. We want to learn how approach the problem from a clinical point of view to increase the level of care we provide for patients.
