Why Research?

It sounded like fun. I liked the idea of being able to independently pursue what interests me.

What Did I Get from Research?

I gained more confidence academically. I gained new insight into topics that have interested me.

How Did I Start?

I saw flyers up for a meeting with UROP in the English department. They made it sound open ended. I came up with an idea, and went to a professor of mine at the time. I pitched my idea to her, and we pursued a UROP.

My Advice for Another Student:

Allow your imagination to guide you to the topic that interests you most.
